Rochester Pitch Your Pivot

Did you recognize a business opportunity or have to overcome a challenge due to changes in how business is getting done in 2020? Did you pivot, or engage in new strategies to keep your business relevant and viable? If so, we have an opportunity for you to win $10,000. No pitch experience necessary!

Pitch Your Pivot is a live, virtual pitch competition hosted by the Urban League of Rochester. Eligible candidates (see below) must apply to pitch. A review committee will evaluate applications and select five finalists to move forward to pitch at the live competition.

This virtual event will take place on Wednesday, May 19th.

This event is being presented by the Urban League of Rochester’s Business Development Center with support from the KeyBank Business Boost & Build program. The Key Bank Business Boost and Build Program is designed to stimulate economic growth in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Finalists must agree to the preliminary terms, including attending training sessions, tech rehearsal and the live event. Training sessions are open to the public, regardless of whether you’re a finalist or not! Stay tuned for registration information.

All pitch competition applicants must:

  • Have 1-20 employees

  • Have annual revenue of at least $50,000 but no more than $250,000

  • Be more than 50% woman-owned or minority-owned

  • Be located in the City of Rochester or Monroe County, NY

  • All businesses must be for-profit entities. No non-profit organizations will be considered.

  • Have had business in operation for minimum of 12 months prior to April 7, 2020

  • Not have business in receivership of bankruptcy
